Donn Trenner is an American jazz pianist, arranger, and composer. He is best known for his work with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, for which he served as musical director from 1953 to 1959. He has also worked with a variety of other jazz artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Mel Tormé. Trenner was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and began playing piano at the age of five. He studied at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut, and then moved to New York City in 1947. He began working with the Stan Kenton Orchestra in 1953, and served as its musical director until 1959. During this time, he wrote and arranged many of the band's most popular songs, including "Artistry in Rhythm," "Intermission Riff," and "Eager Beaver." Trenner has also worked as a session musician, playing on albums by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Tormé, and others. He has also composed music for television and film, including the theme song for the television show "The Odd Couple." Trenner has been married to his wife, singer and actress Joanne Worley, since 1962. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
