Doudou Thiam was born on 3 February 1926 in Senegal. He is a diplomat and former Prime Minister of Senegal. He was the first Prime Minister of Senegal after independence in 1960. Thiam studied at the University of Dakar and the University of Paris. He was a professor of law at the University of Dakar before entering politics. He was appointed Prime Minister in 1962 and served until 1968. Thiam was a member of the Senegalese Democratic Party and served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1968 to 1970. He was also a member of the African Union and the Organization of African Unity. Thiam was awarded the Grand Cross of the National Order of Merit in Senegal in 1971. He was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Senegal in 1975. Thiam is currently retired and lives in Dakar, Senegal. He is 73 years old.
