Driss Lachgar is a Moroccan politician and lawyer who has served as the Secretary-General of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) since 2011. He was born on 25 September 1954 in Rabat, Morocco. Lachgar studied law at the University of Rabat and obtained his degree in 1979. He then worked as a lawyer in Rabat and was elected to the Moroccan Parliament in 1997. He was re-elected in 2002 and 2007. In 2011, Lachgar was elected as the Secretary-General of the USFP. He has since been re-elected in 2015 and 2019. He is also a member of the National Council of the USFP. Lachgar is married and has two children. He is a strong advocate for social justice and human rights. He is also a vocal critic of the Moroccan government's policies.
