Ed Withers is a former American professional basketball player who was born on August 28, 1926 in Tennessee. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Minneapolis Lakers and the St. Louis Hawks. Withers attended the University of Tennessee, where he was a two-time All-American. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1948 NBA Draft and played for the team for two seasons. He then played for the St. Louis Hawks for three seasons before retiring in 1953. Withers was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1975. He died on April 15, 2020 at the age of 93. At the time of his death, Withers had a net worth of approximately $1 million. He earned most of his wealth through his basketball career. He also earned money through endorsements and other business ventures.
