Eduard Azaryan is an Armenian-born Russian figure skater. He is a two-time Olympic champion, a four-time World champion, and a six-time European champion. He is also a two-time Grand Prix Final champion. Azaryan was born on 11 April 1958 in Yerevan, Armenia. He began skating at the age of six and was coached by Viktor Kudriavtsev. He won his first international medal, a bronze, at the 1976 European Championships. Azaryan won his first Olympic gold medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. He also won the World Championships in 1980 and 1981. He won his second Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He also won the World Championships in 1983, 1984, and 1985. He won his sixth and final European title in 1986. Azaryan retired from competitive skating in 1986. He has since worked as a coach and choreographer. He is currently the head coach of the Russian Figure Skating Federation. Azaryan is married to former figure skater Tatiana Tarasova. They have two children.
