Edward Hogan was born in 1980 in Britain. He is a British novelist and short story writer. He is best known for his novels Blackmoor (2006), The Hunger Trace (2009), and The Blood Card (2013). Hogan studied English at the University of East Anglia and completed a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham. He has taught creative writing at the University of Birmingham, the University of East Anglia, and the University of Leicester. Hogan's first novel, Blackmoor, was published in 2006 and was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award and the Guardian First Book Award. His second novel, The Hunger Trace, was published in 2009 and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. His third novel, The Blood Card, was published in 2013 and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. Hogan is currently a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Nottingham.
