Edward Toohey is a former English football coach who was born in 1926 in Wigan, England. He is best known for his time as manager of Wigan Athletic from 1975 to 1979. Toohey began his career as a player with Wigan Athletic in the 1950s, before moving into coaching. He was appointed manager of Wigan Athletic in 1975 and led the club to promotion to the Football League Third Division in 1977. He left the club in 1979 and went on to manage a number of other clubs, including Southport, Rochdale, and Northwich Victoria. Toohey retired from football in the late 1980s and is now in his 90s. He is believed to have a net worth of around $1 million.

A. Edward "Ted" Toohey (birth registered fourth ¼ 1926 – 26 November 1979) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1970s. He played at representative level for Great Britain and England, and at club level for Wigan, Barrow, Leigh and Liverpool City, as a centre or scrum-half, i.e. number 3 or 4, or, 7, and coached at club level for Wigan.
