Eileen Barton was an American singer and actress who was active in the 1940s and 1950s. She is best known for her hit single "If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake" (1950). Born in Brooklyn, New York, Barton began her career as a child actress in the 1930s. She made her Broadway debut in the musical revue "New Faces of 1934" and appeared in the original Broadway production of "On Your Toes" in 1936. In the 1940s, Barton began singing professionally, performing in nightclubs and on the radio. She had her own radio show, "The Eileen Barton Show," and appeared on the television show "Your Hit Parade." In 1950, Barton released her biggest hit, "If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake." The song reached number one on the Billboard charts and was a hit in the United Kingdom as well. Barton continued to perform in nightclubs and on television throughout the 1950s. She also released several albums, including "Eileen Barton Sings" (1951) and "Eileen Barton Sings the Hits" (1954). In the 1960s, Barton retired from show business and moved to Florida. She died in Miami in 2006 at the age of 81.
