She was coached by her mother Liudmila Bychkova. Her father's name is Andrey Bychkov. Introduced to tennis by her mother, she began playing at the Spartak and Chajka tennis clubs. Currently coach and commentator on Eurosport, Ekaterina was also co-host with Alan Moore on Capital Sports from 2017-18.

In her career, Bychkova won nine singles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 20 February 2006, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 66. On 29 January 2007, she peaked at number 106 in the doubles rankings.
