Elly Katunguka is a Ugandan veterinarian and academic administrator. She was born in 1955 and is currently 68 years old. She is the former Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, the oldest and largest university in Uganda. Katunguka obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Makerere University in 1979 and her Master of Science degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi in 1983. She then went on to pursue a PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, which she completed in 1989. Katunguka has held various positions in the veterinary field, including Director of Veterinary Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, and Director of the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank. She was also the first female Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Makerere University. In 2011, Katunguka was appointed Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, a position she held until 2016. During her tenure, she was credited with improving the university's infrastructure and academic standards. Katunguka is a member of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences and the African Academy of Sciences. Elly Katunguka is a Ugandan veterinarian, academic and academic administrator. He is the acting vice chancellor of Kyambogo University, one of Uganda's public universities. He was appointed to that position in February 2014. Prior to that, he served at the Director of Postgraduate studies at Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in the country.
