Erik Christiansen is a Danish rower who was born on 20 September, 1956 in Denmark. He is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, having won gold in the men's coxless fours at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He also won a bronze medal in the men's coxless fours at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Christiansen began his rowing career in 1975 and competed in his first international competition in 1979. He was a member of the Danish national rowing team from 1979 to 1992 and was the team captain from 1986 to 1992. Christiansen is married to fellow rower and Olympic gold medalist Mette Jacobsen. They have two children. Christiansen is currently the president of the Danish Rowing Federation. He is also a member of the International Olympic Committee.
