Freda was born in Naples, Italy, on August 31, 1957. He earned a degree in economics from the University of Naples Federico II in 1980. He then went on to earn a master's degree in business administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, in 1983. Freda began his career in 1983 at Procter & Gamble, where he held various positions in Italy, France, and the United States. In 1999, he was appointed President of the Global Snacks Division at P&G. In 2001, he was appointed President of the Global Beverage Division. In 2009, Freda was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. He has since been responsible for the company's global strategy, operations, and financial performance. Freda is a member of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Goods Forum, a global industry network. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Partnership for New York City, a non-profit organization that works to promote economic growth in New York City. Freda is married and has two children.
