2005

One of the streets in Ganja, where he was born, raised, and where he had dedicated the main part of his life to academic-pedagogical activity, was named for Mammadov to perpetuate his memory, by order of the head of Ganja Executive Power Eldar Azizov in 2005.

1988

Mammadov was posthumously honoured with the silver medal of the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in 1988.

1987

In 1959, he was invited by the Azerbaijan government to be the chief of the head department of selection and seed production in the Ministry of Agriculture. He became the chief of the main department for staff training of that ministry in 1960. He was elected as secretary of the party committee of ASAU. In 1969, he was also elected as a member of the Ganja city council. Mammadov died at the age of 58 on August 4, 1987 in Ganja.

Mammadov was the scientific secretary of scientific council on doctoral dissertation defense of Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences from 1980 until his death.

1974

He was awarded a doctorate in agricultural sciences by the Supreme Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the USSR in 1974. He was appointed as a professor in the annual open board of Supreme Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the USSR, and thus became the first Azerbaijani professor in husbandry.

1970

The 70th birth anniversary of Mammadov was commemorated with the support of Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ASAU) named after Samad Agha Aghamalioglu and the Association of Azerbaijani intellectuals. In that year, the department of agriculture of the Academy was named after its former chief Mammadov, and a scholarship was established in his name for students with high academic performance and who are active in public affairs, by the decision of the Scientific Council of ASAU.

He became associate professor by the decision of Supreme Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education of the USSR in 1962. He was a doctoral candidate at the Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in 1964-1966. At the ASAU, he was head of the department for general husbandry (1972-1973 and 1982-1986), dean of the faculty (1973-1980), and pro-rector on postal tuition (1986-1987).

He began studies in the postgraduate course of the ASAU in 1951, and started research on his Master's dissertation under the direction of Professor N.I. Malov. He completed the course in 1954 and gained the position of Assistant at the ASAU in 1955. He was conferred the academic degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences by the Supreme Attestation Commission under the USSR Ministry of Higher Education in 1957.

Faig Ismail oglu Mammadov (Azerbaijani: Faiq İsmayıl oğlu Məmmədov, pronounced [fɑˈiɡ ismɑˈjɯl oɣˈlu mæˈmːædof]; November 27, 1929 – August 4, 1987) was an Azerbaijani public figure and scientist, doctor of agricultural sciences, and professor. His scientific research was mainly connected with cotton seed-farming, the methods of preparing seed for sowing, and the study of sowing systems. He was the author of many fundamental and applied works, textbooks, monographs and other dozens of books, and about 50 articles regarding cotton seed farming. His education programs on general agriculture continue to be used at universities today.

Faig Ismail oglu Mammadov was born in Kirovabad of Azerbaijan SSR on November 27, 1929. He started school in 1936 and went to Ganja city school No. 5 named after M.A. Sabir, and finished with the award of a gold medal in 1946. In the same year, he entered the faculty of "Fruit-vegetable growing and wine-growing" in Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ASAU). He graduated from the university with honours in 1951 and started to work as a professor and agronomist.
