In 1953, Adams released her biggest hit, "Shake a Hand." The song reached number one on the R&B charts and was later covered by many other artists, including Little Richard and Aretha Franklin. Adams continued to record and perform throughout the 1950s and 1960s, but she never achieved the same level of success as she did with "Shake a Hand." Adams retired from music in the 1970s and has since lived a quiet life. She is now 96 years old.
