Florence Arthaud is a French sailor who is best known for her accomplishments in the sport of sailing. She was born on 28 October, 1957 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. She is the daughter of a French industrialist and a former model. At the age of 18, Arthaud became the youngest person to win the Figaro Solo Race, a single-handed sailing race. She went on to win the race again in 1985 and 1990. In 1990, she also became the first woman to win the Route du Rhum, a transatlantic sailing race. In addition to her sailing accomplishments, Arthaud has also written several books about sailing and has appeared in several films and television shows. She has also been a spokesperson for several companies, including Renault and Air France. As of 2021, Florence Arthaud's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.

In 2015, Arthaud took part in Dropped, a reality television show on TF1 in which sportspeople were transported by helicopters into the wilderness. During filming on 9 March 2015, she died in a helicopter collision in Argentina along with nine other people, two of whom were fellow contestants.

In 2014, she took part in Sea Shepherd's "GrindStop" campaign against pilot-whale whaling in the Faroe Islands.

In 1990, Arthaud established a new world record for the fastest solo crossing of the North Atlantic, beating the previous record by two days.

At age 17, she was in a serious car accident, which resulted in paralysis. She was hospitalized for six months and her recovery took two years. She had a daughter with Loïc Lingois, a French professional sailor. In 1989, she recorded a song, "Flo", with Pierre Bachelet about her sailing. In 1990, she won the Route du Rhum for Pierre 1er. In 1997, she won the Transpacific with Bruno Peyron.

She sailed in the 1989–90 Whitbread Round the World Race on board Charles Jourdan.
