Francisco Aragon is a poet, editor, and professor. He was born in San Francisco, California, on December 4, 1973. He is the author of several books of poetry, including This Is What Happens When (University of Arizona Press, 2020), The Road to Tamazunchale (University of Arizona Press, 2015), and A Larger Country (University of Arizona Press, 2011). He is also the editor of the anthology Bordered Lives: Race, Language, and Culture in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands (University of Arizona Press, 2020).
Aragon is the director of Letras Latinas, the literary initiative of the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is also a professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Notre Dame.
Aragon has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the American Book Award, the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Award, the Latino International Book Award, and the Paterson Poetry Prize. He has also been a featured poet at the White House, the Library of Congress, and the National Book Festival.
