Franklyn Ajaye is an American actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for his roles in the films Car Wash (1976), The Jerk (1979), and The Great Muppet Caper (1981). He has also appeared in numerous television shows, including Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Ajaye was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 13, 1949. He attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and later studied acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio. Ajaye made his film debut in the 1976 comedy Car Wash, and went on to appear in a number of other films, including The Jerk (1979), The Great Muppet Caper (1981), and The Toy (1982). He also had a recurring role on the television series Sanford and Son, and appeared in episodes of The Jeffersons, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Martin. In addition to acting, Ajaye has written and produced several plays, including the musicals The Wiz and The Wiz: The Musical. He has also written and produced several films, including the comedy The Last Dragon (1985). Ajaye is currently married to actress and singer Toni Seawright. The couple has two children.
