On October 18, 1973, his second wife Danielle Cravenne, a manic-depressive, tried to hijack a Boeing 727 with false weapons at the airport of Marignane in what she claimed was a protest against the release of Les aventures de Rabbi Jacob (1973), a film produced by her husband and which she considered "anti-Palestinian". Fatally injured by French security forces, she died shortly afterward in an ambulance.
