Gérard Calvi was a French composer and conductor who was active in the film and television industry from the 1950s to the 1990s. He composed the music for over 100 films and television series, including the popular French television series Les Brigades du Tigre. He also composed the music for the French version of the animated series The Smurfs. Calvi was born in Paris in 1922. He studied music at the Conservatoire de Paris and the École Normale de Musique. He began his career as a composer in the 1950s, writing music for films and television series. He was a prolific composer, writing music for over 100 films and television series. Calvi was also a conductor, leading the orchestra for the French version of the animated series The Smurfs. He also conducted the orchestra for the French version of the animated series The Transformers. Calvi was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1988 for his contributions to French culture. He died in Paris in 2002.
