Gerhard Stolze was a German operatic tenor. He was born in Berlin, Germany, on 1 October 1926. He studied at the Berlin Conservatory and made his debut at the Berlin State Opera in 1951. He went on to perform at the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Bayreuth Festival, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Stolze was known for his interpretations of Mozart and Wagner roles, and was particularly acclaimed for his portrayal of Loge in Wagner's Das Rheingold. He was also a noted interpreter of the works of Richard Strauss, and was the first to record the role of Bacchus in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. Stolze was married to the soprano Anneliese Rothenberger, and the couple had two children. He died in Berlin on 28 April, 1984, at the age of 57.

He made his debut in 1949 at the State Opera in Dresden as Moser, one of the Mastersingers in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the same role in which he made his first appearance at the Bayreuth Festival in 1951. He was a member of the Berlin State Opera from 1953–1961. Other house debuts include the Vienna State Opera in 1957, the Covent Garden in 1960 (as Mime in a complete Ring under Solti), and the Metropolitan Opera in 1968 as Loge. He sang in the first performances or first stagings of Werner Egk's Der Revisor, Heimo Erbse's Julietta, Carl Orff's Oedipus der Tyrann, Frank Martin's Le mystère de la Nativité, and Giselher Klebe's Jacobowsky und der Oberst.
