Glenn Crytzer is an American jazz band leader, composer, guitarist, banjoist, and singer. He is best known for his work with the Glenn Crytzer Orchestra, which he founded in 2006. He has released several albums with the orchestra, including "Swingin' at the Savoy" (2008), "Swingin' Uptown" (2010), and "Swingin' on the Moon" (2012). Crytzer was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, and began playing guitar at the age of 12. He attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied jazz guitar and composition. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began performing with various jazz groups. In 2006, Crytzer formed the Glenn Crytzer Orchestra, which has since become one of the most popular swing bands in the United States. The orchestra has performed at numerous festivals and venues, including the Newport Jazz Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, and the San Francisco Jazz Festival. Crytzer has also composed music for television and film, including the theme song for the PBS series "American Masters." He has also released several solo albums, including "The Glenn Crytzer Quartet" (2009) and "The Glenn Crytzer Sextet" (2011). Crytzer currently resides in New York City, where he continues to perform and compose music. He is also a professor of jazz guitar at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
