Greg Kampe is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach of the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team. He has been the head coach of the Golden Grizzlies since 1984. Kampe was born in Defiance, Ohio, and attended Defiance High School. He then attended Defiance College, where he played basketball and graduated in 1977. He then attended Bowling Green State University, where he earned a master's degree in physical education in 1979. Kampe began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Defiance College from 1979 to 1981. He then served as an assistant coach at Bowling Green State University from 1981 to 1984. Kampe was named the head coach of the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team in 1984. He has been the head coach of the Golden Grizzlies ever since. Kampe has led the Golden Grizzlies to five NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2005. He has also been named the Horizon League Coach of the Year three times. Kampe has an overall record of 545-521 in his 37 seasons as head coach of the Golden Grizzlies. He is the winningest coach in Oakland University history.
