Guilherme de Almeida Prado is a Brazilian writer, poet, and journalist. He is best known for his works in the genres of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. He has published more than 30 books, including novels, short stories, and essays. He is also a professor at the University of São Paulo. Born in Ribeirão Preto, Prado studied at the University of São Paulo, where he earned a degree in philosophy. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in literature at the same university. Prado has been a professor at the University of São Paulo since 1985. He has also taught at the University of Campinas and the University of Brasília. He has been a visiting professor at universities in the United States, France, and Spain. Prado has won numerous awards for his work, including the Prêmio Jabuti, the Prêmio Machado de Assis, and the Prêmio São Paulo de Literatura. He has also been a recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit from the Brazilian government. Prado is married to the Brazilian actress and director, Maria de Medeiros. They have two children.
