Guillermo Desiderio Barbieri was an Argentine actor and singer. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 25 September 1894. He began his career as a singer in the early 1920s, and soon became a popular figure in the Argentine music scene. He was known for his powerful voice and his ability to perform a wide range of musical styles. In the 1930s, Barbieri began to focus more on acting, appearing in several films and television shows. He was best known for his roles in the films El Último Tango (1935), El Último Tango en Buenos Aires (1937), and El Último Tango en París (1939). He also appeared in the television series El Último Tango (1955-1956). Barbieri was married to actress and singer María Luisa Bemberg from 1936 until his death in 1971. He died in Buenos Aires on 15 April 1971, at the age of 76. Throughout his career, Barbieri was highly respected for his talent and professionalism. He was awarded the Konex Award for Best Actor in Film in 1971, and was posthumously inducted into the Argentine Film Critics Association Hall of Fame in 2002.
