During World War II he was again engaged as a production designer, among others for "Der Sündenbock" (1940), "Kleine Mädchen - grosse Sorgen (1941), "Sein Sohn" (1942), "Das war mein Leben" (1944) and "Der Meisterdetektiv" (1944).

He already got in touch with the film business in 1911 when he worked for Oskar Messter's company as an assistant of other production designers. In 1919 he became himself a production designer - first for Bioscop.
