Hans Schelling is a Dutch politician who served as Minister of Finance from 2002 to 2010. He was born on 27 October 1954 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He studied economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and graduated in 1979. He then worked as a financial analyst at the Ministry of Finance from 1979 to 1982. In 1982, he was appointed as a professor of public finance at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was also a professor of public finance at the University of Amsterdam from 1988 to 2002. In 2002, he was appointed as Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende. He served in this position until 2010. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Dutch Central Bank and a member of the board of directors of the European Investment Bank. Hans Schelling is 66 years old as of 2021.
