Hector Wilson was a professional rugby union player who played for the All Blacks from 1947 to 1951. He was a member of the All Blacks team that won the 1949 Rugby World Cup. He also represented New Zealand in the 1950 British Lions tour. Wilson was born in Beaumont, New Zealand, and attended Auckland Grammar School. He began his rugby career playing for the Ponsonby Rugby Club in Auckland. He was selected for the All Blacks in 1947 and went on to play in 24 matches for the team, including the 1949 Rugby World Cup. Wilson retired from rugby in 1951 and went on to become a successful businessman. He was the managing director of the Wilson and Horton Group, a large New Zealand-based engineering and construction company. He was also a director of the New Zealand Rugby Union and a member of the New Zealand Olympic Committee. Hector Wilson passed away on October 28, 2020, at the age of 96.
