Hugh Harding was a highly decorated soldier, receiving the Military Cross, the Distinguished Service Order, and the Order of the British Empire. He retired from the army in 1965 and went on to become a successful businessman. He was the chairman of the British-American Tobacco Company and a director of the Bank of England. Hugh Harding was married to his wife, Lady Harding, for over 60 years. They had two children, a son and a daughter. He was 89 years old at the time of his death in 2014.
