Hussein Ali Mahfouz was an Iraqi politician who served as Prime Minister of Iraq from 1965 to 1966. He was born in Baghdad, Iraq, on 3 May 1926. He was educated at the University of Baghdad, where he received a degree in law. Mahfouz began his political career in the 1950s, when he was appointed to the Iraqi cabinet as Minister of Justice. He later served as Minister of Interior and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 1965, he was appointed Prime Minister of Iraq, a position he held until 1966. Mahfouz was a strong advocate of Arab unity and a vocal critic of Israel. He was also a strong supporter of the Ba'ath Party and its leader, Saddam Hussein. Mahfouz died on 28 April 2009, at the age of 83. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
