Hussein Amar is a Tanzanian politician and diplomat who has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since 2015. He was born on 20 April 1958 in Tanzania. Amar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Sussex. He began his career in the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983, and has since held various positions in the ministry, including Director of the East African Cooperation Division, Director of the African Affairs Division, and Director of the United Nations and International Organizations Division. In 2015, Amar was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, a position he still holds. He has also served as the Tanzanian Ambassador to the United Nations, and as the Permanent Representative of Tanzania to the United Nations. Amar is married and has two children.
