Ilir Selmani is a Kosovar politician and former mayor of Mitrovica. He is a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). He was born in Mitrovica on 9 January 1978. Selmani graduated from the University of Prishtina in 2002 with a degree in political science. He then went on to work as a political analyst for the Kosovo Institute for Policy Research and Development (KIPRED). In 2008, Selmani was elected mayor of Mitrovica, a position he held until 2013. During his tenure, he worked to improve the city's infrastructure and promote economic development. In 2013, Selmani was appointed Minister of Local Government in the government of Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. He held this position until 2017. In 2017, Selmani was elected to the Assembly of Kosovo, representing the LDK. He is currently a member of the Assembly's Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Youth and Sports. As of 2021, Ilir Selmani's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
