Ion Coliban is a Romanian skier who was born on 6 June, 1925 in Brașov, Romania. He is best known for his success in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he won a bronze medal in the men's combined event. Coliban began skiing at the age of 12 and was soon competing in local races. He was selected to represent Romania at the 1948 Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the men's combined event. He also competed in the men's downhill and slalom events, but did not finish either race. Coliban continued to compete in skiing events until the late 1950s, when he retired from the sport. He then went on to become a ski instructor and coach, and was the head coach of the Romanian national ski team from 1965 to 1975. Coliban is now 98 years old and is still active in the ski community. He is a member of the International Ski Federation's Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Order of Merit of Romania. He is also a member of the Romanian Ski Federation's Hall of Fame.
