He is the founder of Klabin, one of the largest paper and pulp companies in Latin America. He is also the founder of the Israel Klabin Foundation, which provides scholarships to students in Brazil. Klabin was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 20 September 1926. He studied engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and graduated in 1950. After graduation, he worked in the paper and pulp industry, eventually founding his own company, Klabin, in 1952. Klabin has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities throughout his career. He founded the Israel Klabin Foundation in 1988, which provides scholarships to students in Brazil. He has also been involved in the development of the Jewish community in Brazil, and has been a major donor to the Jewish Museum of Rio de Janeiro.
