J. Kelly Nestruck is a Canadian theatre critic and journalist. He is the theatre critic for The Globe and Mail, and a former editor of the Canadian Theatre Review. He is also a playwright and a professor at the University of Toronto. Nestruck was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. He attended the University of Alberta, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Drama in 2003. He then attended the University of Toronto, where he received a Master of Arts in English and Drama in 2005. Nestruck began his career as a theatre critic in 2006, when he was hired by the Calgary Herald. He then moved to the National Post in 2008, where he served as the paper's theatre critic until 2011. In 2011, he was hired by The Globe and Mail, where he currently serves as the paper's theatre critic. Nestruck has also written several plays, including The Unplugging, which was produced at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa in 2011.
