Jaclyn Smith is an American actress and businesswoman. She is best known for her role as Kelly Garrett in the television series Charlie's Angels (1976–1981). She has also starred in numerous made-for-TV movies and is the spokeswoman for the American beauty brand, Olay. Smith was born in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Margaret Ellen (née Hartsfield) and Jack Smith, a dentist. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where she majored in sociology. Smith began her career in the late 1960s in television commercials. She made her film debut in the 1969 film The Young Runaways. She also appeared in the 1971 film Night Gallery. In 1976, Smith was cast in the role of Kelly Garrett in the television series Charlie's Angels, alongside Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson. The show propelled all three to stardom. Smith's role as the "tough but lovable" Kelly Garrett was widely popular with audiences. In 1981, Smith starred in the television film Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award. She also starred in numerous made-for-TV movies, including Rage of Angels (1983), Rage of Angels: The Story Continues (1986), and A Friend to Die For (1994). In the 1990s, Smith began her career as a businesswoman. She launched her own clothing line, Jaclyn Smith Collection, in 1985.
