Jan Falandys is a Polish wrestler who was born on 18 June, 1956 in Sokołów Małopolski, Poland. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and a bronze medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He is also a four-time World Champion, having won gold medals in the 1983, 1985, 1987, and 1989 World Championships. Falandys began his wrestling career in 1975, and competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, where he finished in fifth place. He went on to win the European Championships in 1981 and 1983, and the World Cup in 1982. Falandys retired from competitive wrestling in 1991, and has since become a coach and mentor to young wrestlers. He is currently the head coach of the Polish national wrestling team.
