Jeb Spaulding is an American politician who served as the Vermont State Treasurer from 2011 to 2019. He was born in Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1975. He then attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating in 1978. Spaulding began his career in public service in 1979, when he was appointed as an Assistant Attorney General in the Vermont Attorney General's Office. He then served as the Deputy Secretary of State from 1983 to 1987, and as the Secretary of State from 1987 to 1991. In 1991, Spaulding was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives, where he served until 2011. During his time in the House, he served as the House Majority Leader from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, he was elected as the Vermont State Treasurer, a position he held until 2019. Spaulding is currently a partner at the law firm of Downs Rachlin Martin, where he focuses on government relations and public policy. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Vermont State Employees Credit Union. As of 2021, Jeb Spaulding's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.

On April 17th 2020 Spaulding announced his plans to close several Vermont State Colleges campuses including Vermont Tech and Northern Vermont University due to funding issues related to student and teacher absence during the Covid-19 outbreak.

2015

In January 2015 Spaulding left the administration secretary's post to become chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges.

2010

Spaulding considered running for Governor of Vermont in 2010, but opted instead to seek re-election to a fifth term as state treasurer. Spaulding faced token opposition and won re-election with 90% of the vote.

On November 15, 2010, Gov.-Elect Peter Shumlin nominated Spaulding to be the incoming Secretary of Administration, the senior cabinet position in the executive branch. He resigned as treasurer in January, 2011.

2003

Spaulding served four terms as state treasurer (2003–2011) and, in 2009, also served as president of the National Association of State Treasurers.

1985

Previously, Spaulding represented the Washington County district for eight terms (1985–2001) in the Vermont State Senate, where he chaired the Appropriations Committee, the Education Committee, the Joint Fiscal Committee and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. In 1984, he defeated Republican incumbent H. Edsel Hughes to win one of the district's three seats. In 2000, he did not run for reelection, and Republican Phil Scott won the seat Spaulding vacated.
