Jeffrey S. Harper is an American educator and professor. He is currently the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Alabama. He has been a professor at the University of Alabama since 1988 and has held various administrative positions since then. He has also served as the President of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC). Harper earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Alabama in 1978 and his Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Alabama in 1980. He then earned his Doctor of Education degree from the University of Alabama in 1988. Harper has been a leader in the field of education for many years. Harper began teaching as assistant professor at his alma mater Athens State College in 1994. During this time he served as track chair and competition judge with the Decision Sciences Institute. After earning his doctorate, he accepted a position at Indiana State University at the Scott College of Business. He went on to found the University's ProMBA program and play instrumental roles in several student entrepreneurship initiatives.

Harper earned an associate degree in business administration from Calhoun Community College in 1987 and completed his Bachelors in accounting from Athens State College in 1989. In 1993, he earned his Masters in management from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Harper then studied under social scientist R. Kelly Rainer at Auburn University, earning his Ph.D. in management information systems in 1998.
