Jimmy Baxter (footballer, born 1925) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a winger. He began his career with Dunfermline Athletic in 1945 and went on to play for Rangers, Dundee, and St Johnstone. He was part of the Rangers team that won the Scottish League title in 1949–50. Baxter was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, on 8 November 1925. He was the son of a miner and had two brothers. He attended Dunfermline High School and was a keen sportsman, playing football, cricket, and rugby. Baxter began his football career with Dunfermline Athletic in 1945. He made his debut in a Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club. In 1949, he joined Rangers and was part of the team that won the Scottish League title in 1949–50. He also won the Scottish Cup with Rangers in 1950. In 1952, Baxter moved to Dundee and was part of the team that won the Scottish League Cup in 1953–54. He then moved to St Johnstone in 1956 and retired from football in 1958. Baxter was a popular figure in Scottish football and was known for his skill and trickery on the wing. He was also known for his sense of humour and was nicknamed 'The Clown Prince of Football'. Baxter died on 28 April 2021, aged 95.
