Joanna Leunis is a professional dancer and choreographer from Belgium. She is best known for her appearances on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, where she was a professional dancer from 2004 to 2009. She has also appeared on the show Dancing with the Stars in Belgium. Leunis was born in Liège, Belgium, on 22 May 1981. She began dancing at the age of four and went on to study at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp. She has also trained in contemporary dance, jazz, and hip-hop. Leunis has been a professional dancer since 2001, when she joined the dance company of the Royal Ballet of Flanders. She has also performed in musicals and on television. In 2004, she joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, where she was a professional dancer for five years. She has also appeared on the Belgian version of Dancing with the Stars. Leunis has won numerous awards for her dancing, including the BBC Strictly Come Dancing Audience Award in 2006. She has also been nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Choreography. Leunis is married to fellow dancer and choreographer Michael Nunn. The couple have two children.
