Jobst Plog is a German businessman who has served as the CEO of several companies, including the German airline Lufthansa and the German automotive company Volkswagen. He was born in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, on 26 February 1941. Plog began his career in the automotive industry, working for Volkswagen from 1965 to 1975. He then moved to Lufthansa, where he served as CEO from 1975 to 1993. During his tenure at Lufthansa, he was credited with turning the airline into one of the most successful in Europe. Plog has also served as the chairman of the supervisory board of the German airline Air Berlin, and as a member of the supervisory board of the German automotive company Daimler AG. He is currently the chairman of the supervisory board of the German airline Lufthansa. Plog has been awarded numerous honors for his contributions to the German economy, including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Grand Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Grand Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany with Star.
