Joe Staton is an American comic book artist and writer. He is best known for his work on the DC Comics series E-Man and the Charlton Comics series The New Adventures of Captain Atom. He has also worked on many other titles, including Batman, Green Lantern, and Scooby-Doo. Born in 1948 in North Carolina, Staton attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied art and design. After graduating, he began working as a freelance artist for various comic book companies. Staton's first major work was on the Charlton Comics series The New Adventures of Captain Atom, which he wrote and drew from 1977 to 1979. He then moved to DC Comics, where he worked on titles such as Batman, Green Lantern, and Scooby-Doo. In 1983, he created the series E-Man with writer Nicola Cuti. Staton has also worked on various other titles, including The Flash, Justice League of America, and The New Titans. He has also done work for Marvel Comics, including The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers. Staton is currently living in Florida with his wife and two children. He continues to work in the comic book industry, and is currently working on a new series for DC Comics.
