He began his career in the Norwegian Ministry of Finance in 1954, and has since held a number of senior positions in the Norwegian government, including Director of the Norwegian Tax Administration, Director of the Norwegian Customs and Excise Authority, and Director of the Norwegian Directorate of Taxes. Aanderaa has also served as a member of the Norwegian Parliament, representing the Conservative Party from 1989 to 1993. He has also served as a member of the Norwegian Council of State, and as a member of the Norwegian Supreme Court. Aanderaa is married to his wife, Inger, and they have two children. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. Aanderaa has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
