John Blackburn was an American composer, actor, and soundtrack artist. He was born in Massillon, Ohio, on October 19, 1914. He began his career as a composer and arranger for the US Navy Band in Washington, DC. He then moved to Hollywood, where he composed music for films and television shows. He also wrote the music for the theme song of the popular television show, The Addams Family. John Blackburn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for his work on the film, The Great Race. He also wrote the music for the theme song of the popular television show, The Addams Family. John Blackburn was married to actress and singer, June Haver, from 1945 until her death in 2005. He passed away on April 8, 2006, at the age of 91.
