John Davies Evans was a British Royal Navy officer who served during World War II. He was born in Malta on 22 January 1925. Evans joined the Royal Navy in 1941 and served on the battleship HMS King George V during the Battle of the Atlantic. He was later assigned to the destroyer HMS Onslow, where he served as a navigator. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during the Battle of the North Cape in 1943. After the war, Evans continued to serve in the Royal Navy and was promoted to the rank of Commander in 1959. He retired from the Navy in 1965 and went on to become a successful businessman. Evans was married to his wife, Mary, for over 60 years. He had two children, a son and a daughter. Evans passed away on 28 April 2011 at the age of 86. He was buried with full military honours at the Royal Naval Cemetery in Portsmouth.
