John Hazen (basketball) is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Minneapolis Lakers and the Fort Wayne Pistons. He was born on March 2, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana. Hazen attended South Bend Central High School and then attended the University of Notre Dame, where he played basketball for the Fighting Irish. He was a two-time All-American and was named to the All-American team in 1948 and 1949. Hazen was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1949 NBA Draft. He played for the Lakers for two seasons before being traded to the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1951. He played for the Pistons for three seasons before retiring in 1954. Hazen was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982. He was also inducted into the Notre Dame Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988. Hazen is 71 years old and has a net worth of $1 million. He has earned his wealth through his basketball career and other investments.
