Johnny Williams (boxer) is a Welsh professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1959. He was born on 25 December, 1926 in Barmouth, Wales. Williams was a successful amateur boxer, winning the Welsh Amateur Lightweight Championship in 1947. He turned professional in the same year and went on to become the British Lightweight Champion in 1950. He held the title until 1954, when he was defeated by Dave Charnley. Williams fought some of the biggest names in British boxing during his career, including Terry Spinks, Dave Charnley, and Randolph Turpin. He retired from boxing in 1959 with a record of 44 wins, 11 losses, and 1 draw. Williams was 81 years old when he passed away in 2008. Williams was known for his aggressive style of boxing and his ability to take a punch. He was also known for his strong chin and his ability to come back from adversity. Williams was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
