Jorge Ardila Serrano was a Colombian lawyer, politician, and diplomat. He was born in Medellin, Colombia, on 17 September 1927. He studied law at the University of Antioquia and graduated in 1950. He was a member of the Conservative Party and served as a senator from 1966 to 1974. He was also a member of the Colombian delegation to the United Nations from 1974 to 1978. In 1978, he was appointed as the Ambassador of Colombia to the United States, a post he held until 1982. He was also a member of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States from 1982 to 1984. In 1984, he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, a post he held until 1986. He was also a member of the International Court of Justice from 1986 to 1988. Jorge Ardila Serrano passed away on 28 April, 2020 at the age of 83. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
