Jorge Schaulsohn is a Chilean politician and lawyer who served as the Minister of the Interior and Public Security from 2006 to 2009. He was born in Santiago, Chile, on December 22, 1952. Schaulsohn studied law at the University of Chile and graduated in 1977. He then went on to pursue a career in politics, becoming a member of the Christian Democratic Party. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1989 and served as a member of the Chamber until 2006. In 2006, Schaulsohn was appointed Minister of the Interior and Public Security by President Michelle Bachelet. During his tenure, he implemented a number of reforms to improve public safety and security, including the creation of a new police force and the introduction of a new penal code. In 2009, Schaulsohn resigned from his post as Minister of the Interior and Public Security and returned to the Chamber of Deputies. He was re-elected in 2013 and served as a member of the Chamber until 2018. Schaulsohn is currently a member of the Senate, having been elected in 2018. He is also a member of the Christian Democratic Party and serves as the party's president. As of 2021, Jorge Schaulsohn's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
