Josef Lux is a Czech politician and former Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. He was born in Ústí nad Orlicí, Czechia, and is currently 63 years old. Lux graduated from the University of Economics in Prague in 1979 and began his career in the Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Trade. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade in 1989 and served in this position until 1992. In 1992, Lux was appointed Minister of Industry and Trade in the Czech Republic and served in this position until 1997. He was then appointed Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in 1997 and served in this position until 1998. Lux is currently a member of the Czech Social Democratic Party and is a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic. He is also a member of the European Parliament and serves as the Vice-President of the European People's Party. Lux is married to his wife, Jana, and has two children.
